In addition to the global rankings, MIT also has a good position in rankings prepared by specific courses and areas. According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject (2020), the institution is the best in the field of Engineering and Technology and Natural Sciences, and is leader in more than 10 courses analyzed by the ranking.

INTRODUCTION:

This is one of the most renowned colleges in the world.  Massachusetts is home to great universities like Harvard that are also on American soil.

This faculty must be taken into consideration when studying, as it provides tools for the development of the student with world-class equipment, in addition to having very good professional support.

Civil Engineering subjects revolve around Exact Sciences, mainly Mathematics and Physics, as well as a good dose of Geology, Mineralogy and Topography.  The training also includes knowledge of chemical structures of materials, hydrology and electricity, as well as legislation and construction management

VISION OF THE LABOR MARKET:

🇧🇷/ 🌍: Civil Engineering is among the most requested professions in the Brazilian labor market.  It is also one of those that register the best salaries among professionals with higher education and, in addition, it also offers a high occupancy rate, according to data from the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea).

Opportunity: There are new fields under development for civil engineers, related to issues such as environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, installation of new technologies, among others. In addition to the implementation of new projects, there is also the challenge of modernizing current structures for new technologies.

Technology: The leaps in technological innovations of 2025 will demand works in several segments.  Traffic control and public safety systems, commercial buildings and smart homes, industries adapted to automation and robotics tend to keep the private works market in motion, mainly.

 ENTRY PROCESS FOR FOREIGNERS

MIT receives all the information through the “school profile” (school profile in the application system, MYMIT), so they can understand all kinds of grades from all over the world and even in the USA that also differ from each other.

AMOUNTS TO BE PAID AND SCHOLARSHIP:

Studying at MIT is expensive, around $60,000 a year.  At graduation, the university adopts a need-blind policy and its average scholarship value for international students is US$ 32,000 — but in some cases it can reach 100%.  On average, 62% of its students receive some form of financial aid.  In graduate school, almost 90% of students receive some type of scholarship.

Most students, however, have a scholarship offered by MIT.  The scholarship percentage offered by MIT depends on the financial situation of the student's family, and is determined after the student submits the Financial Aid Form.  submission of the Financial Aid Form.  In this form, you will need to report how much your parents earn per year, bank accounts and annual expenses.

DIPLOMA  OBTAINED📜:

Brazil does not have any agreement for the automatic revalidation/recognition of higher education diplomas with any country.  Therefore, the rules are the same for all countries.  But there are steps to be able to validate your diploma.

 Step 1: Certificate validation abroad:

Before returning to Brazil, it is important that you authenticate your diploma with the foreign state where you studied.

 Step 2: Certificate validation Brazil:

Back in Brazil, you will need a higher education institution here to see what you studied and decide if there is, in Brazil, a course equivalent to the one you took.  The institution will also decide if your studies abroad are sufficient to guarantee you a diploma in this equivalent course, or if you will need to do some additional work or exam to guarantee this equivalence.

The validation process costs from R$500 to R$3,000.  And you are still responsible for finding an institution in Brazil that has a course similar to the one you did abroad.

CURIOSITIES / METHOD OF WORK:

Civil engineering is the branch of engineering that plans, designs, executes and manages works and projects.  Civil engineering transforms and adapts nature, with the aim of optimizing people's quality of life.  Thus, this area is dedicated to the creation of buildings, bridges, tunnels, power generating plants, industries and numerous other types of structure.
