THE COURSE
To receive your professional recognition as a general practitioner, a graduate degree is required, regardless of your original undergraduate degree. However, the path that American students and universities choose is: to do a Pre-Med School and then enter the university called the Medical School, where one actually learns Medicine.
Before all that, both natives and foreigners must pass the American entrance exams: the famous SAT and ACT. In addition, foreigners must also prove their English proficiency.
Pre-Med:
Although there is no such specific course as such, "pre-med" is the term used by university students who are enrolled in the institution in order to graduate from the Medical School and become a "Doctor". In other words, the Pre-Med School is just a university that precedes the intended medical training.
After Pre-med:
After four years of graduation, you don't just enroll in Medicine. You still need to pass a test to enter the desired postgraduate course. In the case of Medicine, the test is called the
Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

The job market for the physician is quite diversified. There are good job opportunities in companies such as hospitals, clinics, clubs, research centers or in the public service. Most professionals also choose to set up their own private practice.
The employability of the area, according to IPEA, reaches an unbelievable 97%. This means that there are practically no jobless doctors in the country!
The Covid-19 pandemic had a profound impact on the labor market, mainly affecting workers with less social protection and low education. The problem before the pandemic was not the lack of jobs, but the low quality of most jobs.
