Yale University
Yale University
University Headquarters: New Haven, Connecticut, EUA.
Yale University — the 3rd oldest institution of higher education in the United States — is consistently among the top 20 in the world, according to top university rankings. Its origins go back to the 1640s, when colonial clerics wanted to create a faculty to preserve the tradition of liberal European education. Yale is over three hundred years old, having been founded in 1701. That makes it the third oldestuniversity in the US. Plus, it's where 4 US presidents graduated. (Bill Clinton, George Bush father and son, for example.)
Agriculture and veterinary medicine
The agriculture and veterinary medicine course covers the following topics
- diagnosis and control of animal diseases
- Prevention of disease transmission from animals to people
- Food safety in relation to foods of animal origin
- Engagement with wildlife, preserving it and conserving public health.
Curiosities about the course:
- Far beyond urban clinics that mainly serve pets such as dogs and cats, veterinariansalso work in rural "offices". They work on farms that have animals as a source of production, such as livestock and their large herds.
- The course has biological science subjects, which unravel each point of the animal body, analyzed in depth to understand the needs of each species. Biochemistry, physiology and microbiology are among the basic subjects of the graduation.
- The wide range of areas to be chosen involves the environment and speciespreservation; animal production technologies, which use genetic research to reducedisease; and the food industry, which monitors the quality of products of animal origin.
Job Market in Brazil and in the World: With the great demand of students for urbanveterinary clinics, the number of professionals focused on agribusiness is smaller, whichguarantees high employability. In rural areas, veterinarians are required for daily or periodic evaluations of cattle, goats, pigs, fish and poultry, in addition to treatingoutbreaks in production chains involving animals, such as honeybee hives.
How foreigners can enter: Yale will accept any one of these applications, withoutpreference for one over another. Students should submit one—and only one—application per admissions cycle.

While Yale does not award merit-based scholarships, Yale students often qualify for merit awards from other organizations. Criteria for receivingmerit scholarships are directly linked to a student's performance in academics, sports, music, or another field of special interest. Potential sources for merit-based awardsinclude: private companies, employers and nonprofit organizations. Entitlement grantsare awarded by the federal government, state agencies, or other agencies not affiliatedwith Yale. The criteria for receiving entitlements are based on federal need, city or stateof residence, or affiliation with an employer.
